Reverie is built for drafting. There are no folders to set up and nothing to configure first. You open a document and write.
Your first document
To start a new document, press ⌘N for a blank page. To open an existing one, press ⌘O and choose a file.
Reverie works with plain Markdown files (.md). These are ordinary text files you own outright. They open in any other editor, and nothing about them is locked to Reverie.
Just write
Start typing. You don’t need to configure anything first.
When you want to format something, like a bit of emphasis or a heading or a list, use a keyboard shortcut and the text changes in place. There’s no toolbar to reach for. The full list lives in Keyboard Shortcuts, and the how and why is in Formatting & Markdown Mode.
As you write, the surface responds. The cursor glows, the page warms when you’re in flow, and scrolling settles with a little weight. It’s meant to be felt rather than watched, so the best thing to do is ignore it and keep writing.
Saving and coming back
To save, press ⌘S.
When you quit and come back, Reverie reopens your last document at the spot you left it, with the same cursor position and the same place on the page. You can pick up mid-sentence without hunting for where you were.
